ABOUT BRITT

I have a Master degree in Health Studies (health research stream) from Athabasca University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Wilfird Laurier University.  I currently work as an evaluation assistant for the Alberta Health Services addiction and mental health Calgary zone portfolio. I am part of a larger department called the Decision Support Team, which is comprised of three teams; evaluation, data management, and education. As an evaluator for the AHS addiction and mental health portfolio I have a very diverse role. My role ranges from assisting with full evaluations on a new mental health unit to leading ad hoc literature reviews or outcome measurement analyses.

As an evaluator in Alberta I belong to the Health Sciences Association of Alberta as well as the Canadian Evaluation Society. The Health Information Act and ARECCI (A Project Ethics Community Consensus Initiative) outline the legislation and ethical considerations for my work.

The areas of addiction and mental health in particular that I am interested in and passionate about include: addiction & mental health service improvement, addiction & mental health service innovation, reducing mental health stigma, and the effect of Adverse Childhood Experiences on children’s mental health. I have had the opportunity to do work in some of the areas listed above, and I look forward to continuing my research and evaluation work.

To stay mentally and physically healthy I venture out to the mountains. I live just a short drive from the Rocky Mountains where I can hike, climb, bike, ski, camp, and breathe in that fresh mountain air.

It is my hope that with this ePortfolio I will be able to easily share my academic and professional artifacts and highlights. Please enjoy perusing through my site and blog!
